Importing Shape Files in JTS IntelliCAD

JTS IntelliCAD(IntelliCAD 10.1a) is an economical 2D Drafting and 3D Wireframe Modeling CAD software meant for Engineers, Architects and other technical consultants. It works in native DWG & DXF CAD software to create and edit drawings.

You can import the file formats .shp, .sdf and .sqlite shape files using the command MAPIMPORT

File Formats:

The following file formats can be imported using this feature

  • .shp- It is a digital vector storage format for storing geographic location and associated attribute information
  • .sdf- It is a single-user geodatabase file format developed by Autodesk
  • .sqlite- It is a database engine written in the C language

What is a shape file?

The shapefile format is a digital vector storage format for storing geographic location and associated attribute information.

It stores the data as primitive geometric shapes like points, lines, and polygons. These shapes, together with data attributes that are linked to each shape, create the representation of the geographic data

How to import the shape files in JTS IntelliCAD:

  • Click on Insert Menu and Click MAPIMPORT or Type the command MAPIMPORT()
  • It displays the Import Map File dialog box so you can import .shp, .sdf and .sqlite shapefiles under the files of type.
  • Select the file format and the file required to import and click Open
  • Enter input layer name: Specify the name of the input layer with data that you want to import.
  • Enter table name: Specify the name of the table to import data from.
  • Enter target layer name: Specify the target layer in the drawing for imported data
